Mass Transit and Bubbles

Mass transit is one of those words that define us more than we define it. As a symbol, it definitely participates in our experience. It arouses uncomfortable and negative feelings that impinge on things like our sense of independence, so we build up a wall around us that fends off any such intrusion into our private space.
